You asked about my perspective on the world we live in today,
So here I am giving my response,
Let’s take a glance through my own child eyes:
The results however might come as a surprise.
This astounding world we live in,
Makes humans believe that we’re worthwhile,
But look what has been done to repay it’s giving’s;
Actions so grim, sinister and vile.
Like a magnificent bird in a cage just begging to be set free,
That’s how I feel when talking about our crimes against mother nature,
Pleading to do something but all they see is a youth filled with phoney glee;
Still now I’m speaking up in this poem for the greater good.
Yes God has given us the perfect balance of minor downs and endless ups in life,
To put this resembling child’s play,
A striking glass slipper but when worn feels like walking on knives;
An all-mighty genie with only three wishes to grant and rules beyond his power.
These downs and ups that we put to our advantages,
Polluting the aquamarine ocean ’till it’s the murky brown as the dirt and dead leaves,
Chopping trees whilst dozens of critters lose their homes,
Don’t even get me started on all the less fortunate beings and their entire lives being sacrificed with wars and slavery.
As a youth being able to make a difference is possible,
But not with being discarded, belittled at and frowned upon,
I will never rest until I make emends to God’s world;
Even through the toughest of storms and the fiercest tides.
You asked me about my perspective on the world we live in today,
So here I gave my response,
We took a glance through my own child eyes;
I pray that the results surprised you.
